Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Data Analyst to join our team and work within a key strategic client in Auckland (New Zealand), to understand, transform and blend data sets to deliver business insights. We are looking for someone who is happy in deep row level data, understanding what is working, any discrepancies and how processes link to the data. You will have a passion for incremental improvements and automation.

The day-to-day detail:

  • Explore our clients’ data infrastructure and systems, analyse various datasets, perform data analysis, finding patterns and generating valuable insights to support critical business initiatives and present them back to the business teams
  • This roles key responsibility is to own and maintain the Interchange process and to uplift and optimise ELT and reporting
  • Play a key part of designing and supporting the migration of card data to the cloud
  • End-to-end reporting from data checks, ETL, output assurance, reporting & user experience
  • Build dashboards to visualize insights and understand behaviour of customers or understand performance of various portfolio optimisation initiatives
  • Take ownership of processes including being the key contact for answering questions
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to solve business problems and support decisions
  • Producing written communication, visualizations and presentations for leadership and other key stakeholders
  • Seek out learning opportunities to continuously improve your effectiveness in the role and your skillset for ongoing professional development

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees are expected to work from a city location on Monday and Thursday, and in Albany on Tuesday. You may be required to work extra hours during month start, with a view to scale this down over time.

  • High-Impact Communication: Clearly and succinctly be able to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations (written, presentations and verbal).Having the ability to effectively communicate a story through data
  • Active Contributor to Team Success: Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals. Makes suggestions for achieving team goals or performing team functions, provides necessary assistance to remove obstacles to help the team accomplish its goals
  • Business Translator:  Be passionate about translating challenges into well-defined insights, showcasing the impacts and providing recommendations. To enable this, you must be proficient in SQL, Excel, Tableau and PowerPoint.
  • Build Strategic Work Relationships: Building relationships across Risk teams, front line, as well as other stakeholders to understand the processes, the data and risks associated with the end-to-end lending journey. Be able to have productive and positive prioritisations conversations. You will have good interpersonal relationships skills to enable people to feel valued, appreciated, and included in discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors/Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years related work experience in Data Analytics with proven tenure
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel and Tableau. Ownership of ETL.
  • Adept at data crunching, and passionate about unearthing significant patterns and meaningful insights.
  • Experience in Snowflake and dbt Labs.
  • Experience in how to optimise migration from a structured workload perspective is advantageous. As is migrating legacy Excel VBA code.
