Job Description

Visa is seeking a Associate Software Test Engineer specializing in APIs to join our Visa Recurring Payment Monitor team. This role will be primarily responsible for the development, documentation, testing, and release of various API components using open-source technologies mainly focused on automated test area. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other Software Engineers and Test Engineers within the team and other Product Development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide input on design and implementation to ensure quality is built into the product from the ground up.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies that cover all aspects of software functionality, performance, security, and usability.
  • Design and implement detailed, repeatable test cases, ensuring coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop, execute and maintain manual and automated test cases, documenting results and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and prioritize defects, providing detailed reproduction steps and severity assessment.
  • Work with developers to troubleshoot and resolve defects, retesting fixes in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and execute regression test suites to ensure that new changes do not introduce defects to existing functionality. Continuously update regression test cases based on new features and changes.
  • Ensure that the software meets user expectations and business requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of test plans, test cases, and test results. Generate detailed reports on testing activities, defect metrics, and overall product quality for stakeholders.
  • Implement best practices and innovative testing strategies to enhance product quality and team efficiency.
  • Ensure that testing activities comply with Visa standards and policies.
  • Actively participate in the agile software development process and contribute to its continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to release management, code configuration management, and continuous delivery pipeline processes.
  • Collaborate efficiently with the team to ensure timely turnaround of work products.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for change activities to foster a positive atmosphere.
  • Identify scope creeps and inform the appropriate stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
• 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
• Essential experience in developing/testing RESTful APIs using JSON, Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Experience in developing/testing applications using MySQL/Postgres database technology.
• Experience in various forms of testing in agile environments using automated testing techniques and tools/technologies like Test Driven Development (TDD), Rest Assured, Selenium, Gherkin and Cucumber.
• Experience in Software Configuration Management & Continuous Integration principles, and tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, Git, Maven, JFrog Artifactory, and Groovy.
• Knowledge or experience of working in containerized environments such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with developing User Interface applications using Angular and JavaScript is beneficial.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• Ability to report the status of delivery effectively on a regular basis.
• Desired experience in secure coding practices and security design.
• Positive attitude, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, and enabling team collaboration are key traits for this position.
• Experience with high availability active-active & active-passive multi-data centre applications with disaster recovery capabilities is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Big Data platforms such as Spark, Scala, Hive, HDFS, Map Reduce, Yarn, HBASE, or Kafka is an advantage.
