Overview and Responsibilities:
We are the Video Engineering and Streaming team, responsible for supporting the video delivery and architecture of VOD and Live content streamed on over 15 platforms for Paramount+. Our team is also responsible for the encoding, delivery and partner sharing of premium content to millions of users every day! We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who will help drive our system's evolution. The role will be an integral part of the Video Streaming and Engineering team, working with video tech engineers to build and release products involved in Video Playback Services. This person will also be responsible for doing minimal building, deploying and managing video Playback services in the cloud (GCP/AWS).

The Senior Software Engineer be leading projects, optimizing performance, sharing knowledge, and mentoring junior engineers. Additionally, this role will have a high level of autonomy in deciding what approach to take in solving the assigned problems.
Responsibilities Include:
• Working with other engineers to maintain and evolve our video partner delivery platform.
• Working with the team to build out cloud-based microservices that support Video Playback workflows.
• Building out the services dealing with HLS/ DASH manifest and manifest manipulation.
• Fielding questions and requests from site publishers regarding video playback.
• Working with other developers and Operations team on streamlining CI/CD solution
• Encouraging an engineering culture that promotes test-driven development and code coverage
• Enhancing the Video Playback API , DRM protection API, and building new features around User entitlements and HLS/DASH manifest manipulation
• Building new microservices and improving Video Delivery and Content Filtering solutions for Paramount+
• Working with the development team on a central logging and monitoring solution like New Relic, Datadog, Sumologic, etc.
• Improving Video Delivery workflows and debugging jobs and workflows.
• Working with development teams on re-architecture/modernizing existing systems into the cloud.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer and 3+ years working in Golang.
• Experience with Golang, Postgres , Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP cloud.
• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
Additional Qualifications:
• Experienced in developing and maintaining cloud-based video workflows.
• Experience working with Cloud/SaaS services such as Amazon AWS, Google Cloud
• Experience in building APIs in Golang and database technologies like MySQL, Postgres
• Experience in using Docker / Kubernetes , CI/CD systems like GitHub Actions / Argo
• Experience with Object Oriented languages, JSON / XML
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of HLS/DASH streaming media standards and DRM technologies like Fairplay /PlayReady/ Widevine
• Experience with AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC video and audio codec standards
• Experience with video broadcasting and streaming media standards

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $124,000.00 - 170,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
