The Senior Manager, Business and Legal Affairs is a key role within the International Consumer Products ('CP') legal team that is responsible for ensuring fast, efficient, and unchanging turnaround times for all deals across all territories worldwide whilst providing the business with a high level of professional service at all times!
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing one direct report: setting goals, providing training and leading all aspects of personal and professional development
- Autonomously managing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex cross-jurisdictional contracts for CP (including gaming and emerging media, toy, publishing, gaming and emerging media, merchandise, direct-to-retail, collaboration, content, digital and promotions)
- Autonomously running all daily BALA issues for key CP territories (including LATAM) and lines of business as allocated to you from time to time
- Maintaining relationships internally and externally (i.e. agents and licensees)
- Liaising with intellectual property team regarding IP infringement matters and supporting Senior Counsel with day to day IP protection matters
- Liaising with global CP franchise planning team to facilitate implementation of various critical initiatives
- Assisting VP BALA with marketing initiatives (including influencer agreements)
- Preparing reports, performing research, and leading on counterfeit sightings, debt collection and litigation matters as required
- Acting as lead CP BALA contact for all international bankruptcy matters and regularly reporting on same to Senior Counsel, CP BALA and Senior Counsel, Viacom Corporate
- Maintaining templates and suggesting updates; and crafting new templates, as requested
- Assisting VP and/or SVP of BALA on special projects as/when instructed; assisting Senior Managers and Counsel as required
- Occasionally Supervising work of Junior Contracts Managers and Interns in the team

- 6+ years' experience autonomously drafting and leading negotiations of a variety of complex agreements and amendments as a paralegal or contracts manager OR combination of legal degree and experience
- 2+ years' management experience
- In-house experience preferred but will consider applicants from private practice/law firm background that have experience managing own transactional matters and dealing directly with clients
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language proficiency strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of IP and contracts law
- Understanding of privacy/data protection law and EU competition law preferred
- Demonstrates excellent leadership qualities

- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to understand numbers in business/financial context
- Excellent time management

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 125,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
