The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing direct materials in North America. They will collaborate closely with our global colleagues to procure the most competitive solutions for Vestas and our customers. They will engage and involve cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality procurement strategies while ensuring cost, quality, and on-time delivery.

The position as Purchaser for Tower Materials will allow you to develop your procurement profile and join a team of experienced strategic purchasers, commodity leads, and specialists.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-responsible for the global commodity strategy and negotiation to ensure the most optimal procurement setup for Tower Materials, including Steel, Tower Internals, Flanges, and Door Segments in the Region.
  • Support Tower Commodity Lead with procurement-related activities to the supplier management of Tower Manufacturers.
  • Manage the procurement-related activities in the cross-functional sub-module team and secure alignment with relevant stakeholders regarding, e.g., new supplier development, costing, supplier risk, performance management, and cost deviation reporting.
  • Supplier selection, qualification, negotiation, contracting, and supplier relationship management, including supplier account plans, and performance management.
  • Supplier consolidation to ensure supply chain optimization based on total landed cost, strategy, and roadmap development with your commodity member and act as procurement lead on cross-functional projects and cost-out initiatives.
  • Procurement deliverables in new product introduction and contract management of NDAs, Purchase Agreements, Price Agreements, and other related legal agreements.
  • Full understanding of Commodity and Module KPI governance and active engagement in performance improvement to meet targets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Supply Chain, or similar commercial or technical degree. A master's degree is beneficial.
  • 3+ years of procurement, supply chain, or contracting experience required. Working in a manufacturing environment is considered beneficial.
  • High-level business knowledge (understanding of financial statements, cash flow, EBIT, inventory, etc.).
  • Experience in negotiating and closing complex agreements where long-term partnering is crucial to growth.
  • Established history in understanding commercial terms and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to understand technical language and develop scopes of work collectively with your stakeholders
  • Comprehensive written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Proficient analytical skills and ability to make business case comparisons for internal and external presentation.
  • Comprehensive organizational and persuasion skills. You can exhibit the ability to persuade without authority, leveraging Vestas's functional support matrix.
  • Ability to perform under demanding circumstances and in a varied work environment, implementing multiple deliverables.
  • Displays high standards of ethical conduct. Exhibits truthfulness and integrity.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP, and additional software programs).
  • Ability to interact with a cross-functional team that may include internal, external, domestic, and international stakeholders.
  • Understanding and capability to work within a matrix organization.
  • Written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms in English.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and with a variety of cultures (coordinating with various time zones).
  • Ability to coordinate a cross-functional team that may include internal, external, domestic and international stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel as business requires.
