Project Controls Lead, Offshore
The Offshore Project Controls Lead is responsible for establishing a project controls system (planning and cost control) to support the Senior Project Manager decision-making process for Vestas offshore wind projects under construction in the United States. The position is responsible for liaising with the customer, project team, finance department, and senior management.

- As a Subject Matter Expert on Project Controls, responsible to work closely with the Project Controls Department Head and Vice President, Offshore Customer Project Execution to establish a robust Offshore Project Controls system for the seamless execution of the first offshore projects in the US.
- Prepare and issue the cost, scheduling, and progress measurement procedures, guidelines and reporting templates to be used as a standard for all offshore projects.
- Instill a progress-based schedule and cost management / reporting philosophy within the Offshore Customer Project Execution business unit
- Promote continuous improvements within the function using the lessons learned from the project to define the framework to apply to all future offshore projects.
- Prepare all Project Control deliverables (cost report, revenue forecast, Primavera project schedule, 30-days look ahead, progress report, manhours report, etc), collecting actual data, evaluating forecast, and monitoring any deviation compared with the baseline schedule or initial budget.
- Translate real time data into valuable information to decision makers on issues of schedule, revenue recognition, cost, risk, contingency and others.
- Regularly identify, prioritize, escalate, and mitigate construction portfolio risks to further enhance overall P&L performance
- Collaborate with external departments to develop robust communication, streamlined processes as well as promote the value of Project Controls
- Serve as a liaison between Offshore Customer Project Execution and Supply Chain/Transportation teams to control risks stemming from production, delivery, and inventory of components impacting their project.se collaboration with the Performance Management Office to deliver reports and trend analysis focused on P&L performance to various stakeholders
- Provide Project Management team with analysis and recommendations to mitigate identified risks to the project by running simulations and assessing impact of actions taken.
- Liaise with the customer ensuring that all deliverables are issued timely and as per the contractual requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration or other related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- 7 - 10+ years experience in project controls, including planning/scheduling, cost management, contract management, and change management.
- Experience with large scale projects delivery (large construction projects, an international environment and/or offshore wind or energy industry).
- Current systems skills including Primavera P6, MS Office Suite, SAP and BI
- Ability to operate adequately in a significant, ever-growing environment
- Creative and able to stay professional in a time-sensitive setting with the ability to manage varying situations and work in ambiguous circumstances
- Highly organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
- Technical capabilities and good at gathering and sharing information
- Effective cooperation and communication initiative, including advanced written and verbal skills.
- Ability to work alone and with minimal supervision
- Thorough attention to details
- Maintain high standards of ethical conduct and integrity
Competencies:
- English communications skills (verbal, active listening, written, meeting management, presentation)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and SAP)
- Ability to implement processes to efficiently conduct required administrative tasks
- Ability to regularly participate in a cross-functional team
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to negotiate across organizational boundaries with a solid focus on working with and understanding different cultures
- Work location Brooklyn, NY or Boston, MA
- Ability to travel to other offshore sites for training and onboarding for periods at a time will be required.
