General Purpose:

Process Instructors play the central role of developing their production worker colleagues within their team. They serve as the primary production contacts for new process roll-out. Assists workers engaged in fabrication of structural Blade products and will perform some or all of the functions listed below depending on work placement

Responsibilities:

  • Promote workplace safety and educate Team members on safety policies and procedures.
  • Train to policies and process documentation including PWIs, Drawings, Job Cards.
  • Identify, address and report poor quality work immediately and directly.
  • Identify, address and report as necessary employee violations of policy
  • Not responsible for the corrective actions of a Supervisor
  • Train team and document for new ECOs and best practices in the department.
  • Primary trainer for new employee induction.
  • Responsible for training new employees to level 3 within a set time frame.
  • Appraise task performance and set development goals.
  • Primary trainer for cross factory training
  • Train employees from other factories learning new technologies and/ or methods.
  • Audit training levels of all production staff in department through regular reviews of performance and TDR records.
  • Represent Vestas in a professional manner, following company, factory and department policies.
  • Effectively manage priorities. Balancing Production with Production Capacity when deciding on individual focus.
  • Work on production processes when not required to perform training associated tasks.

Manual Production Processing:

  • Lift, position, and/or remove material from work areas.
  • Load, stack, and transport materials by hand, truck or crane or jib.
  • Paint Blade.
  • De-burr, polish and sand with file, wire brush, buffing cloth, grinding cloth or sandpaper.
  • Clean interior surfaces of holes.
  • Apply abrasive compound, wax, or other dressing to facilitate cleaning or polishing.
  • Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.

Machine Operations:

  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant, flow and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Install machined replacements parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Change tools on powered equipment.
  • Specifications Management
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, marks, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Verify dimensions, conformance and alignment of finished work-piece specifications.
  • Thermography Focus
  • Assist with practical training of new thermography operators
  • Ensure new candidates are completing hands on training
  • Work with candidates in mould during training phase
  • Provide shop floor guidance as needed (ECO roll out, improvement evaluations/training etc.)
  • Assist with updating and maintaining TDR's
  • Audit thermography reports for completeness and quality and provide feedback to operators
  • Assist in yearly evaluations of thermography operators (ensure minimum # of blades evaluated, visual acuity, yearly TPE and assist if improvement evaluations are needed)
  • Ensure operator requirements outlined in QS 993657 are met
  • Assist in resource allocation (ensure minimum number of trained operators are on staff for all shifts)

Additional Duties

  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment.
  • Safely perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas.
  • All other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions
  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to work at a pace in accordance to a takt plan that still meets safety and quality requirements
  • Regular & reliable attendance climb up and down stairs, push, pull and lift to 35 pounds own their own and team lift up to 70 lbs.

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong natural ability to work in teams, high degree of adaptability & flexibility, strong desire to learn new skills & knowledge, excellent work ethic, dependability &dedication to team/company, personal desire/value to produce quality work, and ability/desire to work as a craftsman with hand tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Level 4 skill level in relevant TDR areas; ability to analyze tasks with an attention to detail.
  • Maintain successful completion of Quality Certification
  • Conflict resolution and communication skills, executed with respect, care and concern for colleagues.
  • Natural drive for personal development with a willingness to learn from others; willing to share openly with colleagues; teaches others with patience and persistence.

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and occasionally required to sit.
