Indirect Procurement Director

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and develop a professional purchasing team to deliver current and future business needs
  • Support a team of specialists and purchasers covering all indirect categories.
  • Develop and oversee stakeholder relationships, oversee critical negotiations, and monitor and improve performance measurements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships in collaboration with the Regional and Global Teams.
  • Develop regional initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the North American Region for Indirect value chains.
  • Be a change agent and secure capability by engaging with key stakeholders and implementing professional purchasing processes.
  • Ensure implementation of module strategy and the Vestas Procurement Process in the region.
  • Identify key risks and ensure proper risk assessments are completed appropriately and promptly.
  • Identify year-over-year cost-out opportunities, ensuring proper alignment, signoff, and execution within the region.
  • Implement regional digital procurement strategies, including procure-to-pay, vendor creation, and eAuctions.
  • Develop and promote key strategic supplier relationships.
  • Facilitate initiatives that provide in-year EBIT contribution, year-over-year continuous cost-out, and control cost of poor quality (CoPQ) recovery from suppliers.
  • Identify, contract, and qualify new suppliers who can reduce TLC (total landed costs) and drive regional localization (where appropriate).
  • Act as liaison between global functions, key stakeholders, and manufacturing facilities within the North American Region.
  • Develop and implement regional procurement strategies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the indirect material market dynamics and the competitor landscape.
  • A key contributor to the overall strategic objectives of the Procurement Organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Supply Chain, or similar commercial or technical degree. A master's degree is advantageous.
  • 10+ years of procurement, supply chain, or contracting experience required. Working in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in people management
  • High-level business knowledge (understanding of financial statements, cash flow, EBIT, inventory, etc.)
  • Proven history of leading and developing teams
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing complex agreements where long-term partnering is crucial to growth.
  • Demonstrated history in understanding commercial terms and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to understand technical language and develop scopes of work collectively with your stakeholders
  • Comprehensive written and verbal presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make business case comparisons for internal and external presentation
  • Comprehensive organizational and influence skills. You can demonstrate the ability to influence without authority, leveraging Vestas's functional support matrix
  • Ability to perform under high pressures and in a varied work environment, implementing multiple deliverables
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally based on business requirements; a valid passport is required
  • Displays high standards of ethical conduct. Exhibits honesty and integrity

  • Ability to work flexible hours and with a variety of cultures (coordinating with various time zones)
  • Ability to effectively coordinate a cross-functional team that may include internal, external, domestic and international stakeholders
  • Ability to travel as business requires
