Join our Automation IT team as a subject matter expert (SME) to help drive innovation and operational excellence for the OGC business. The team specializes in identifying tedious and time-consuming processes and delivering scalable, automated solutions to automate them, saving significant effort, reducing risks, and provide measurable business value.

Our primary tools include UiPath and Microsoft power platforms (e.g., Power apps/automate), but we also leverage and support other technologies/products built using PowerShell, Python, Web front end stacks, AWS technologies, and other tools as needed. As automation and AI capabilities continue to evolve and converge, you'll play a key role in exploring and applying these advancements.

Job Summary:

This Engineer's primary role will be to perform the responsibilities of a developer in an automation engineering team that supports the OGC Team. Developers in this team collaborate closely with the OGC business stakeholders to understand their use cases, clearly articulate business benefits, design solutions that can deliver those benefits, implement, and operationalize them. You will leverage your expertise in UiPath and other technologies to design and implement solutions, measure business value, and help the team prepare for AI-driven innovations in 2025 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand use cases, and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Business Value Articulation: Clearly articulate the business value of proposed automation solutions and approach to measure it, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Solution Design: Design robust, scalable and highly maintainable automation solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Implementation: Develop, test, and deploy automation solutions using industry-standard tools and best practices.
  • Operationalization: Ensure smooth transition of automation solutions into operational use, including training, documentation, and ongoing support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and assess the performance of automation solutions, adjusting and improvements as needed. Leverage and continuously help develop best practices, standards, and frameworks.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure all automation solutions comply with legal, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Operational Excellence Maturity: Ensure all solutions that the developer builds in built with all operational excellence capabilities such as availability management to ensure it has the right level of maturity before it is operationalized.
  • Research and Innovation: Staying updated on the latest technological advancements and automation industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions. Evaluate how latest technologies (such as Generative AI and AI/ML) can be leveraged to gain significant efficiency within OGC teams.
  • Stay updated on AI and automation advancements, contributing to the team's strategy for adopting AI-driven capabilities in 2025 and beyond.
  • Document solutions, create reusable components, and establish best practices to enhance solution scalability and maintainability.
  • Train and mentor team members in automation technologies and methodologies.

Skills and qualifications

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience as a developer within an IT team.
  • Proven Experience in translating business outcomes into technical requirements, designing, and implementing solutions to deliver those outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in UiPath with a proven track record of delivering automation solutions (E.G. RE Framework, Document Understanding, Orchestrator).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft power suits (E.G. Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, MS Forms, SharePoint).
  • Expert knowledge in object-oriented programming language such as Python and scripting language such as PowerShell/VB.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS technologies: CloudFront, EC2, S3, ECS, IAM, Dynamo, Lambda
  • Working knowledge of frontend development technologies (such as .net, JavaScript, HTML5, React JS, Angular)
  • Experience creating and working with CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket, GitHub etc.
  • Proven track record in staying informed on emerging technology architecture, products and concepts and upskilling on them quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult with business stakeholders, identify requirements, and build consensus.
  • Ability to quantify business value, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), and measure the impact of automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
  • Experience in creating documentation, reusable components, and best practices.
  • Experience working with different types of APIs. (Rest/GraphQL)
  • Enthusiasm to understand/learn and apply emerging architecture and technology concepts.
  • Should have an innovative mindset enabling the person to suggest tweaks to make existing automations more efficient and suggest enhancements that could make the automation more impactful.
