The Opportunity

As a dedicated Subrogation Specialist, you will within defined guidelines and framework, provides specialized Auto and/or Property claims service by evaluating physical damages on claims made by other insurance carriers against USAA and determining the proper indemnity owed to the claimant carrier.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • Ensures coverage has been properly applied to the loss and coordinates a response with the Auto or Property adjuster when a coverage issue has been identified.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, and processes to include P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages, common law, contract law, state statutes, evidence and damages.
  • Revies and audit estimates and settles claims within prescribed limits of authority.
  • Effectively negotiate settlements with contractors, adjusters or any insured representative.
  • Recognize and document subrogation, SIU, and salvage opportunities, and refer accordingly.
  • Reimburse policyholder's deductible after recovery is made.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Up to 1 year subrogation claims adjusting experience or auto or property claims adjusting experience.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts.
  • Developing knowledge of common law, contract and negligence laws.
  • Ability to confidently resolve issues and negotiate fair settlements.
  • Strong written communication skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Both subrogation administration and/or claims processing experience.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $48,340 - $86,630.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
