General Summary:

Job Title: Software Engineer II

Job Summary: Unum is seeking a skilled Software Engineer II to develop and configure software solutions within our business portfolio. This role requires expertise in C#/.NET, including experience with APIs, and the ability to work independently. You will ensure high-quality software delivery through collaboration with agile teams, unit testing, and continuous integration. As a Software Engineer II, you'll also mentor junior engineers and contribute to business value through effective solution design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate, design, implement, and maintain new and existing software features using C#/.NET.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, Business Analysts, and UX designers to ensure software aligns with business requirements and user expectations.
  • Develop, code, configure, and document software deliverables following industry standards.
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, sprint retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies to drive team improvement.
  • Ensure software quality through manual and automated testing and by using continuous integration techniques.
  • Provide daily updates on progress during standups and address any issues blocking progress.
  • Lead proof-of-concept projects and collaborate with Test Engineers to validate software meets quality standards.
  • Manage the transition of software features to production, ensuring performance and release standards are met.
  • Automate testing processes to maintain high-quality application delivery and efficient regression testing.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve the customer experience and ensure alignment with company architecture.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on C#/.NET, including API maintenance and development.
  • Proficiency in Agile Development Methodologies and experience working in sprints.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.
  • Familiarity with SDLC tools like Jira or Rally.
  • AWS experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Effective team player with the ability to work across diverse teams and organizational areas.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$73,300.00-$150,500.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
