General Summary:

The Run IT Delivery Manager is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of critical customer-facing digital assets. This role oversees day-to-day IT operations, managing incident responses, escalations, and service requests while ensuring compliance with SLAs and operational standards.

This opportunity requires a dynamic leader with strong communication, technical expertise, and the ability to manage fast-paced and unpredictable workloads.

This role directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency through proactive problem-solving and innovation.

Location: 3 days per week in Portland, ME, Chattanooga, TN, Columbia, SC or Atlanta, GA

Job Specs:

  • IT Operations Expertise: Proven experience managing IT operations for customer-facing applications with a strong focus on stability and performance.
  • Agile Proficiency: Comprehensive understanding of Agile methodologies, sprint management, and the software development lifecycle, with the ability to apply Agile/Lean leadership principles effectively.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, .NET, and C#, complemented by a software development or technology background.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated capability to mentor and lead diverse, remote, and offshore teams, addressing skill gaps and fostering team development.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills, with a focus on long-term solutions and innovative approaches.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective influence and collaboration at all organizational levels.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with frequent change, displaying resilience and the ability to reprioritize quickly.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Proficient in running effective meetings and managing high-ticket-volume environments with escalations.
  • Change Management: Proven ability to champion change, guide teams through transitions, and encourage proactive, resourceful behavior.
  • Educational and Professional Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (preferred) or equivalent technical experience, with 5+ years of relevant IT field expertise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee and maintain IT services for customer-facing applications, ensuring system stability, reliability, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and escalations to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.

Agile Project Management:

  • Facilitate the translation of business strategies into actionable backlog items and sprint releases.
  • Support Agile teams by prioritizing initiatives, removing roadblocks, and ensuring adherence to best software engineering practices.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage a distributed team, as well as an offshore team, mentoring and coaching team members to achieve higher performance levels.
  • Develop a self-organizing, cross-functional team by addressing skill gaps and promoting cross-training opportunities.

Strategic Goal Alignment:

  • Create and articulate clear goals and SMART objectives that align with organizational vision, key performance indicators (KPIs), and business roadmaps.

Problem-Solving and Innovation:

  • Focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions, promoting creativity and innovation to address team challenges and improve customer satisfaction.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with product owners, IT leadership, and other stakeholders through effective communication and rapport-building.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Use metrics and tools to understand team performance, taking proactive measures to improve efficiency and address operational challenges.

Change Management:

  • Support and guide teams through frequent changes, ensuring adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Talent Development:

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, create development plans, and coach team members to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • Ensure the team's talent aligns with business needs and organizational goals, promoting a diverse and capable workforce.

Technology Advocacy:

  • Stay informed on emerging technology trends and identify opportunities to deploy innovative solutions that drive business improvements and competitive advantage.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$98,340.00-$201,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
