General Summary:

This position is responsible for positioning the company as a thought leader in the industry by creating insightful and engaging content that addresses key market trends and challenges, rooted in company goals and priorities. This includes the ideation and creation of the message architecture, identification of external influencers and internal experts, the medium for the content and journey mapping for the buyers' experience. This person will be the engineer for what content to develop, which channels to leverage this in and how to measure effectiveness of the assets and interactions.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop strategy for message architecture and framework for in market demand generation
  • Planning of the experience for the buyer as they interact and consume material
  • Engage and influence internal stakeholders (including sales) to develop core content assets and aligning buyer needs to business solutions to craft in-market positioning
  • Measure and report on content engagement, interactions and consumption
  • Identify trends, insights and best practices for new content development and formats.
  • Manages testing of content and messaging (including calls-to-action)
  • Works closely with writers and videographers to build out new and updated materials for demand generation
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Develop new ways to distribute core content including podcasts, videos, and other mediums
  • Work closely with thought leaders in the organization to leverage for content and social media opportunities.
  • Develop thought leadership strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and addressing the needs of target audiences through impactful messaging and innovative content formats
  • Leverage a journalistic approach to content creation, focusing on research-driven storytelling and engaging narratives that enhance brand credibility
  • Identify and manage relationships with external influencers and internal experts
  • Create new ways to cultivate engagement including community development, social, PR and media
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, business analysts, and developers to identify and solve business needs
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

  • 4-year college degree required with at least 5 years of Marketing experience with an emphasis on content marketing, social media and demand generation
  • A high degree of initiative, creativity and problem-solving skills will be expected
  • Strong understanding of media, marketing-sales funnel metrics, and how they can be analyzed
  • Experience in managing content delivery and channel distribution
  • Ability to leverage analytics and data to inform content creation such as search
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with and manage cross functional teams

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$75,500.00-$142,700.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
