General Summary:

The AVP, Strategy & Transformation Management supports the development and management of the Transformation portfolio to drive effective strategy execution. Portfolio of strategic initiatives will primarily focus on large scale, transformational opportunities that have material growth, operating efficiency or customer experience impacts in various functional areas across the enterprise.

This individual will lead partners through a consistent transformation approach and methodology that includes initiative scoping and business case development, facilitating demand management and the ongoing management of the transformation project portfolio including risk management, leadership communications and portfolio optimization.

Shares ownership with senior leadership for achieving targeted performance outcomes from portfolio of initiatives. Serves as a key leader within the Strategy & Transformation Management team, operating with a continuous improvement approach to advance team service model, drive consistency & efficiency in team processes, and remove barriers to help accelerate strategy execution.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Planning

  • Facilitate transformation planning process with departments by analyzing portfolio performance, defining strategic capability requirements, and aligning with defined enterprise strategic choices
  • Establish clear decision-making criteria and collaborate with business leaders to design and select transformation initiatives that align to company vision, goals and success measures
  • Work with partners in the business, Finance and DTO to mobilize for execution, ensuring alignment of defined scope/objectives, resource planning, budgeting, and planned portfolio deliverables, building confidence that program will deliver expected outcomes.
  • Work with SteerCo and key partners to design effective communication of portfolio decisions and ongoing performance to key constituents, including senior executives and the Board of Directors.

Portfolio and Strategic Initiative Management

  • Support the portfolio management life cycle from demand management, prioritization, and mobilization to project execution, results management and reporting
  • Establish strong, effective, and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, initiative owners, and subject matter experts, ensuring a deep understanding of strategic direction, business operations and priorities for the organization.
  • Drive effective portfolio management discipline, supporting strategic initiatives from ideation and business case development through execution
  • Lead business and DTO partners through effective transformation management practices including the development of initiative roadmaps that outline clear measurable milestones for decision-making, delivery and adoption to realize value
  • Synthesize and analyze significant amounts of information to assess initiative performance and develop recommendations
  • Drive continuous improvement in transformation governance and portfolio management approaches, enhancing methodology and tools, templates and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the transformation program
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities that could hinder or accelerate the execution or impact of initiatives and recommend solutions to improve performance that could benefit the project, program, or our overall strategic portfolio. Employ a high degree of ingenuity to strategize and execute on creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Manage a small transformation management team with responsibility for initiative oversight and reporting. Provide coaching in support of effective stakeholder management and problem resolution.

Transformation Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Leads the review of transformation portfolio health and program delivery in key executive forums (e.g., SteerCo, OpCo, Journey Portfolio Review). Oversees the production of status and value reporting. Implements the portfolio's governance model to support timely resolution of program roadblocks and effective overall decision-making.
  • Capture and disseminate knowledge and lessons learned from transformation efforts to inform future initiatives, building organizational capability and maturity
  • Conduct benchmarking and market research to identify leading practices and trends in transformation management, applying insights to enhance the organization's approach and methodologies
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement within the organization, promoting innovation, best practices adoption, and knowledge sharing to sustain transformational change over time
  • Establish governance structures and mechanisms to provide oversight and accountability for transformation initiatives, ensuring adherence to policies, standards, and established requirements

Job Specifications

  • BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+years relevant experience including driving business transformation
  • Demonstrated success and experience in Management/Strategy Consulting, Corporate Strategy or Business Transformation, Corporate Finance or Investment Banking
  • Deep understanding of multiple business areas and functions across the enterprise, supported by strong financial and technical skills
  • Action-oriented, creative, strategic thinking that identifies and connects opportunities, sees gaps, and finds points of connectivity across the enterprise
  • Ability to think creatively and outside the box to simplify complex metrics and information into easy-to-understand concepts and senior executive messaging
  • Courage in asking provocative questions and challenging thinking at all levels of the organization, pushing the collective toward better outcomes to improve the health of the business
  • Bias for action, ability to deal with ambiguity, and natural perseverance to overcome obstacles and deliver outcomes when leading change
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills developing communications and presentations for a wide variety of audiences
  • Expert analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize data and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations
  • Demonstrated history of collaboration, inter-personal, and influencing skills; skillful in handling conflict and navigating group dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization, including C-suite
  • Experience with and passion for managing teams and developing people.
  • Adept at enhancing team engagement and value proposition while building an inclusive, equitable, collaborative and fun work environment
  • Outstanding record of professional achievement
  • Strong team player with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, while thriving in a fast-paced work environment
  • Some travel required.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
