General Summary:

The AVP, Field Enablement is a strategic leader focused on driving and advancing field productivity and enabling growth. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of field roles, operations and a structure. This knowledge will be leveraged to identify, prioritize and implement and/or influence strategic and comprehensive solutions that will enhance productivity and streamline operations.

This role is also responsible for driving new ways of doing business, including the design, implementation and ongoing evolution of programs that provide the field organization with well-qualified, actionable prospect engagement information that feed and grow our business pipeline across all customer segments.

By leveraging their knowledge and strong relationships at all levels of the company, the incumbent will be a key contributor to the long-term profitable growth of the company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently design, develop and implement a framework that will be used to support specific segments of the field organization in achieving their sales performance goals.
  • Leverage strong knowledge of the field to continue to evolve field operations by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for increased productivity and efficiency across all field operations, inclusive of people, process and technology, in a way that resolves pain points and removes friction.
  • Influence all field office leadership to adopt and execute on identified efficiencies and processes optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and ensure full adoption of demand gen resources, by driving towards consistency when appropriate but recognizing and responding to the difference among the various sales offices.
  • Using experience and strong data analysis, this leader heavily influences their segment's market growth strategy, making recommendations of innovative actions needed to impact results in long term and profitable top line growth. Provide recommendations for changes based on solid analysis conducted, with the business case laid out for consideration.
  • Continuously monitor external market trends and develop proposals to enhance sales workflow processes to optimize internal efficiency while achieving the highest levels of broker and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to take a data-driven approach to influence focus and content of field education/training efforts, with the goal of helping the field and their leadership to understand the most impactful opportunity areas.
  • Partner with CXO analytics, field leadership, and segment leadership, to ensure key performance metrics (sales, quote activity, execution, as examples) are created and monitored to continuously measure efficiency and effectiveness of lead generation efforts within the field.
  • Travel frequently to field sales offices
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years' experience in sales performance management or marketing preferred
  • Proven success working in a matrixed environment and influencing indirect reports
  • Must be strategic-minded, able to take in information from multiple sources and circumstances and formulate an overall solution or decision to resolve problems.
  • Ability to build relationships with peers, cross-functional counterparts, and upper management; Committed to helping others be successful.
  • Skilled in uniting a team under a shared vision, collaboration, influencing and motivating each member with and without authority.
  • Strong understanding of customer viewpoint and provides excellent customer service.
  • Experience successfully working in a metrics driven environment required.
  • Ability to build and use data-driven reports to inform recommendations and highlight areas of opportunity.
  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions and deliver results.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills - both written and verbal.
  • Leadership and organization skills; ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
  • Flexibility, adaptability and resilience is a must.
  • Proficient skills on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$114,100.00-$215,700.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
