As a Senior Service Designer within the UHC Consumer Product Office, you will assist with development of the design strategy for multiple initiatives. You will work with other design strategists, designers, researchers and content strategists to develop and translate the product strategy into a compelling design vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct service design projects to identify the problem space across all phases: scoping, research, synthesis, ideation, and prototyping
  • Model the current state of key consumer and advocate journeys and design future state journeys along with defining jobs-to-be-done
  • Design at all scales of the service from end-to-end service models and value propositions to mockups of individual touch points
  • Develop service and touchpoint prototypes (such as future state narratives, journey maps, and service blueprints) for both prototyping and implementation of designs
  • Facilitate workshops across the organization to both ensure right input in the project as well as alignment across all groups involved
  • Leverages best practice design principles and trends to contribute with insights and stellar user experiences
  • Make research and design decisions that takes into health equity considerations (including but not limited to: disability status, health literacy levels, demographics, cultural backgrounds, etc.) to improve healthcare access for all members
  • Plan, manage and conduct market, trend, and competitive research when needed to inform project research and design
  • Continually innovate the practice of service design
  • Elevate design thought leadership in the organization
  • Create frameworks, tool kits, ways of working to influence and inform team process

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years relevant experience in one or more design practices (UX design, including service design, research, IA, visual, prototyping, strategic design, etc)
  • Proficient in service design skill set
  • Demonstrated ability to frame the problem space and structure the work to be done
  • Demonstrated ability to actively contribute to collaborative work as well as take ownership over small to mid-sized projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at a time
  • Demonstrated curiosity and growth mindset contributing to a product design environment that supports continuous learning and innovation
  • Proven comfortability managing and problem solving a moderate amount of ambiguity in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience applying the jobs-to-be-done framework in design research and strategy work
  • Familiarity with the American healthcare system
  • Familiarity with interactive prototyping tools such as Figma or Miro
  • Understanding of various frameworks for service design and methodologies for analyzing data

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
