The Sr. Data Engineering role is critical for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the UHCNV/Sierra database environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work as a team member of 4-6 DBA's, including focus on Oracle and MS SQL
  • Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and implement new/improved guidelines for the DBA team
  • Partner with project teams and interact with developers and customers to find solutions for projects and operational issues for existing and proposed databases
  • Act as data liaison serving as primary point of contact between application business segments
  • Document, implement, and execute disaster recovery plans as needed
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 11+ years of experience as DBA on one or more database platform (MS SQL, Oracle)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, and security issues
  • Experience in Performance Tuning using platform specific tools
  • Expert experience in implementing operational automation
  • Advanced level of understanding and application of database concepts and their integration with business problem solving skills
  • Expert knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database storage operations, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication
  • Expert knowledge of how to use indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to detect and troubleshoot database server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • SQL Development - Demonstrated ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
  • Proven solid acquaintance with windows and UNIX server, security delegation, storage components

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare related experience
  • High volume, transaction processing background with claims, billing, EDI, or Healthcare Insurance systems development experience
  • Experience with planning, organizing and leading database projects and initiative on multiple platform types of Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle
  • Broad understanding of company business issues and their integration with broad and complex information systems applications
