This position is Per Diem role as needed and can be up to 24 hrs./week. Schedule will vary with days of the week and shift times depending on business needs. We currently have 4 shifts - 7a-3:30p, 11a-7:30p, 3p-11:30p and 11p-7:30a.

Our office is in the Owensboro Regional Hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information
  • Operates telephone software applications to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
  • Operates the computerized system for patient transport including answering calls, entering information into patient transport system, assigning Ambassadors, and clearing the task when complete
  • Dispatches patient transport and security staff as needed to the correct direction including the use of proper radio etiquette to ensure accuracy
  • Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides, and other associated reference materials
  • Receives and accurately prioritizes; distributes phone calls to providers and nursing staff as needed
  • Communicates codes, alerts, drills, and other announcements according to established policies and protocols including disaster management plans
  • Proficient in all software applications specific to the Communications Department
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion to ensure equipment is functional

The pace is fast, so your ability to multi-task is essential. You should also enjoy working with people and have the communication skills necessary to build strong relationships with our customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Beginner level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to cover any of our needed shifts on a per diem basis, up to 24 hours/week. (We currently have 4 shifts - 7a-3:30p, 11a-7:30p, 3p-11:30p and 11p-7:30a.)
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in Owensboro, KY

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
  • Prior health care experience

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to customers in a compassionate manner
  • Proficient conflict management skills to resolve issues in a stressful situation
