As an Optometric Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing and participating in day-to-day clinical care. You would assist customers and utilize your optometric equipment knowledge to work with patients.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Rooms patients; obtains ocular, medical, and family history; instructs patients regarding medications, tests, and procedures; coordinates patient flow; and updates patient's electronic medical record
- Performs testing as required and/or directed including measurement of visual acuity, visual fields, extraocular motions, intraocular pressure as needed; measures, compares and tests pupils; and autorefraction as necessary
- Records data as testing is performed into the automated visual field machine
- Prepares exam rooms. Room stocking, maintaining inventory of supplies
- Educates patients on eye care. May educate patient on surgical procedures as appropriate/required
- Performs faxing, phone calls and other related clerical tasks
- Proactively monitor provider schedules for accuracy

Required Qualifications:
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
- Ability to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity and perform refractometry, tonometry, and visual fields
- Ability to administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ophthalmic/optometric experience
- Exemplary organizational skills; willingness to be cross-trained and fill in for other staff members
- Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
