UKG is looking for a Technical Writer for the UKG Ready® product, which is a flexible, seamless platform for smaller and medium sized companies, and combines the power of HR, talent, payroll, time, and scheduling into a single SaaS solution.
This role will author and produce clear, concise, and well organized release notes and user guides published in HTML, PDF and Word to both our external customers and internal employees. You will work closely with the other members of the Technical Documentation team as well as Product Managers. This position will have some set responsibilities but will also act in a floating position and provide documentation assistance to other product lines and projects, as assigned by manager.
Here's a bit about our process:
• Using Jira, analyze and interpret enhancements and bugs. Product Managers enter user stories and other details into Jira tickets. You are to interpret the user stories into easy to understand release notes. There are tight deadlines around software releases, currently scheduled in bi-monthly (6 per year) increments.
• Ensure your documents in Flare are properly prepared for each HTML build using established procedures.
• You will incorporate applicable enhancements into affected user guides for each system release.
• As new features are rolled out, this will require the periodic creation of new user guides or the rewriting of existing guides based on the new functionality.
Qualifications
• Experience with MadCap Flare authoring tool or similar.
• 2 years of technical writing experience, preferably in a software environment. We would love to see some examples.
• Knowledge of the following software: Jira, Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat DC, SnagIt, and SharePoint.
• An aptitude for catching on to technical software.
• Great communication skills - verbal and written.
• Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
• Highly organized, and always with an eye toward having necessary information (files, job aids, team and company documents, emails, etc.) close at hand to help you with your tasks.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate time zone differences.
