About the Team
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our IT Platform Engineering team. As a IT Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and performance of our production environments, with a focus on reliability and availability. You will also support lower environments for project teams, developers, and business testing. The priority is always on production, and you will be part of a rotation where you act as the primary responder for the team in case of critical business process/application/job failures. You will collaborate closely with other IT professionals and business users, performing daily operational tasks and providing exceptional support.
About the Role
Description:
• Administer and manage cloud environments: Ensure the stability, security, and high availability of cloud environments across private and public cloud platforms, specifically Azure and GCP, to support various SaaS solutions such as Salesforce and Dynamics 365.
• Collaborate with application development teams: Ensure lower environments meet business requirements and provide technical guidance and support for seamless integration and operation of cloud-based applications.
• Collaborate closely with other IT professionals and business users: Perform daily operational tasks and provide exceptional support, ensuring seamless communication and effective problem-solving.
• Work on user-reported tickets: Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly and efficiently, utilizing your knowledge of Azure and GCP to identify and troubleshoot problems, and proposing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with vendors: Work on upgrades and maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to the environments. Proactively monitor and manage vendor maintenance activities and infrastructure changes.
• Automate lower environments: Streamline operations and improve efficiency for other teams by developing automation solutions using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance: Guarantee optimal efficiency and responsiveness using monitoring tools such as Datadog, Databricks, and Redgate Monitoring. Proactively identify and resolve issues, and expand the use of monitoring tools to enhance visibility and performance.
• Implement and execute backup and recovery strategies: Protect critical data by conducting regular data backups and ensuring reliable restore capabilities in case of any data loss or system failures.
• Maintain cloud infrastructure security: Implement access controls, monitor user activity, and address vulnerabilities. Stay up to date with industry best practices and compliance requirements to ensure data privacy and protection.
• Investigate and resolve cloud infrastructure-related issues: Utilize your knowledge of Azure and GCP to identify and troubleshoot problems, proposing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Stay current with cloud engineering advancements: Keep up with the latest technologies, trends, and advancements in cloud engineering. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our cloud operations.
Act as the primary responder: Participate in a rotation to be the primary responder for critical business process/application/job failures, ensuring quick resolution and minimal impact on production environments.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering or a related role
• Strong knowledge of Azure and GCP cloud platforms
• Proficient in automation scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
• Experience with KQL (Kusto Query Language)
• Familiarity with Informatica Cloud (IICS)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Databricks, and Redgate Monitoring
• Familiarity with SaaS platforms such as Salesforce and Dynamics 365
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as SVN, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and TFVC (Team Foundation Version Control)
