About the role:
The Principal of Vendor Payments is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of the company's payment systems. This role involves optimizing payment processes, managing vendor relationships, mitigating risk, and leading contract negotiations to achieve favourable terms for the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payments, vendor management, and risk assessment - along with excellent negotiation skills.
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in our Dublin office and 2 days a week working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize payment processes and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Analyse current payment operations, identify improvement areas, and implement best practices.
- Collaborate with technology and finance teams to integrate and upgrade payment technologies.
- Manage relationships with payment vendors and partners to ensure optimal service delivery and performance.
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly and make recommendations for improvements or changes.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the best terms and cost-effective solutions for the company.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate payment-related risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain a risk management framework for payment operations.
- Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Lead negotiations for payment processing and vendor contracts to achieve favorable terms.
- Develop negotiation strategies that align with company goals and financial objectives.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand needs and priorities to guide negotiation efforts.
- Lead and develop a high-performing vendor partners footprint.
- Align the payments strategy with the overall business strategy and financial goals.
- Monitor industry trends and innovations to keep the company at the forefront of payment technologies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, technology, and operations, to ensure payment processes meet business needs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on payment operations and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in payment operations, vendor management, and risk management.
- Proven track record of successful negotiations and vendor relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of payment processing technologies, trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in payroll industry an advantage.
