Principal Architect, UKG Inc., Alpharetta, Georgia (Hybrid)

Responsible for developing standard practices and rules to transform and maintain business data into a trusted single version of accurate data to facilitate the best decisions end users can make for the future of their business. Will work in partnership with the business and customers to ensure the quality, consistency, and accessibility of all business data as well as with the UKG Data Engineering team responsible for managing data consumed from all products UKG offers into Company's consolidated data platform. Specific duties will include:

  • Creating and implementing a Master Data Model and associated strategy to ensure data standardization and quality across all products.
  • Enforcing governance relating to the quality of product data and adapting as needed to changing business trends and requirements.
  • Operationalizing processes for the creation and changing of data to define business rules, and to implement and improve data standards, integrity, and consistency.
  • Collaborating across product platforms to identify opportunities for data and process integration.
  • Evaluating and making recommendations regarding proposed data model designs.
  • Defining and communicating guidelines to business partners to enforce data standards while supporting business needs.
  • Collaborating with product management and stakeholders to design, develop, and build data solutions that support business requirements within the existing cross product data warehouse.
  • Establishing key business relationships to continuously review and refine data requirements needed to meet organizational objectives.
  • Developing and implementing data quality measurement criteria.
  • Working with Business stakeholders as appropriate to resolve any issues and improve process efficiencies.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members on data management and modeling methodologies.
  • Collaborating with Architecture, AI, Business Intelligence, and Operational Reporting teams to ensure alignment with other global data governance areas of practice (e.g., Data Architecture, Data Storage & Operations, Security, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Analytics).
  • Serving as subject matter expert on the Master Data Model for all product initiatives.

Requirements:

Position requires either (i) a Bachelor's degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Analytics, Computer Science or a closely related field and 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer or (ii) a Master's degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Analytics, Computer Science or a closely related field and 5 years of pre- or post-master's degree experience as a Data Engineer. Must also have 5 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with the primary experience requirement above) working with the following:

  • Modeling, designing, developing and maintaining Enterprise data warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms using modern Data Modeling technologies and processes;
  • Relational and Dimensional Data Modeling, including data analysis, data profiling and gap analysis for data-centric application development and deployments;
  • SQL data warehousing technologies including BigQuery SQL Server and PostGresQL, and Teradata and MPP Architecture for ETL and Analytics platforms;
  • GCP Cloud-based Big Data Solutions with tools including Cloud Storage, BigQuery, CloudSQL and Data Flow for implementing scalable, secure and well architected data processing frameworks for real-time and Batch processing systems; and
  • Implementation of metadata management, data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance requirements.

This is a hybrid position working 3 days/week at the company's office in Alpharetta, Georgia and 2 days/week working from a home office.
