Strategy & Planning Analyst

Amsterdam, Netherlands

About the Role

The EMEA Uber Rides business spans over 40 countries across three continents and is one of the main drivers of Uber's growth and profitability. As a business, we face an outstanding set of opportunities and challenges due to regulatory and economic differences across the region. The EMEA Strategy and Planning (S&P) team works directly for the Regional General Manager of EMEA to shape our strategic approach, implement changes, and coordinate actions across Operations, Marketing, Support, and functional teams.

The team's core responsibilities include managing the annual planning cycle and governance, quarterly strategy refresh, competitive strategy and response, and running strategic projects. Historically, these projects have involved launching new markets, implementing product, legal or policy changes, managing M&A integrations, and improving cross-functional performance.

We are looking for an Analyst who will drive quantitative strategic efforts, including competitive analysis and performance evaluation, while also providing analytical and strategic support for our Uber for Business (U4B) and Health businesses. U4B is rapidly expanding and is positioned to be the next growth engine for Uber. Uber Health is one of the fastest-growing segments within Uber for Business.

You will be joining a dynamic team that drives growth at Uber's largest EMEA business unit and will be at the center of decision-making for the region. Join us and make an impact!

What the Candidate Will Do:

  • U4B and Uber Health Support: Analyze business metrics and customer behavior to feed into customer engagement and experience strategies. Identify other opportunities for growth, and support the implementation of strategic initiatives for these businesses.
  • Competitive Analysis: Collaborate with Ops leadership and S&P teams across EMEA and the U.S. to develop and iterate on game-theoretical models and deliver analytical support for competitive strategies.
  • Performance Management: Build and maintain performance monitoring systems. Develop a comprehensive understanding of actions that drive results across Rides, U4B, and Health.
  • Program/Project Management: Support regional initiatives by working cross-functionally with teams across EMEA and the U.S., ensuring alignment on priorities and execution.
  • Process Improvement: Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and risks, leveraging internal data to design and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Relationship Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Business Development, People Operations, Product, Legal, Finance, Rides, U4B, Health, etc.) to ensure effective partnerships and execution.

What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a STEM-related role (e.g., data science) or in business intelligence and strategy.
  • A BA or MA degree in a STEM field or a technically focused degree in economics, business or psychology.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including knowledge of statistics and proven experience in SQL and Python.
  • Experience in defining solutions to complex, strategic problems with a deeply analytical and data-driven approach.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with comfort engaging senior partners and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications / Bonus points:

  • Ability to work across time zones and remote teams to develop strategies and foster a cohesive work environment.
  • Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well
  • A self-starter, hustling mindset - the ability to self-serve, create structure where it's absent, solve problems, and take an iterative and MVP-based approach
  • A "driver" personality - highly proactive, biased toward action, great collaborator and master disambiguator/simplifier - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Grittiness - you never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are expected to be in-office for 100% of their time. Please speak with your recruiter to better understand in-office expectations for this role.
