About the role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Threat Defense and Response team and lead the development of the next generation AI-powered security platform. This platform will be instrumental in enhancing our cyber defense capabilities across security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, and more. The security landscape is constantly evolving, and with the adoption of ML/GenAI backed by extensive heterogeneous data, security threats are inevitably broadened. With your deep and comprehensive expertise across major technology stacks, you will architect, implement and scale industry-leading security solutions for cyber defense. As a Staff Software Engineer, you are not only role models, but also empathic leaders. You are humble teachers, technically mentoring passionate engineers while also delivering uniquely challenging projects. What the Candidate Will do
- Design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance software platform and services for Uber's cyber defense
- Leverage AI models and algorithms to transform threat defense and response from human-driven to AI-driven
- Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional software engineering teams to build end-to-end cyber defense solutions
- Deliver high-quality code, conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and mentor junior software engineers
About the Team:
Our mission is to protect, defend, and secure Uber's products, infrastructure and data by building highly available, scalable and extensible security platforms and services. We are focused on proactively identifying and remediating security risks as well as swiftly detecting and mitigating security incidents. In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity, we continuously adapt and evolve our defenses in order to always stay one step ahead of potential threats.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in software development
- Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Java, Python, or Go
- Strong experience in backend software architecture design
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with AI/ML technologies and frameworks and incorporating them into production systems
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, tools, and best practices
- Proven track record of leading complex software projects from inception to delivery
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation
