About the Role
The Public Safety Response Team (PSRT) AMERICAS, manages legal requests for user data from police, judiciary and Public Health Authorities (PHAs) around the globe. These often involve emergency circumstances that require an immediate response. Every request is unique and must be checked for legal compliance prior to conducting exhaustive research within Uber's databases while managing user privacy.
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented person with a strong work ethic to join our team of Public Safety Specialists to process law enforcement and PHA requests. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent judgment, prioritize effectively, work collaboratively while under pressure; as well as communicate effectively with external and internal partners.

This is a hybrid role - our team collaborates in-person out of our incredible office in San José 2 days/week. We encourage our employees to work from our office on additional days if they desire to do so.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and respond to data requests in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, in accordance with the law and with relevant policies and procedures.
- Prioritize, assess and accurately respond to legal requests for user data from public safety agencies and court officials within SLAs.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders through clear, concise and rational communication.
- Protect the privacy of our users' data through a robust analysis of all requests against our stringent legal and ethical requirements.
- Follow local government and Uber's policies in responding to requests from law enforcement in a timely manner.
- Responsible for leading specific projects such as overseeing the training and mentoring new joiners. Be prepared to deliver individual and team training.
- Drive safety outcomes through the application of critical thinking and adherence to the processes laid down in the Global PSRT playbook.
- Allocate issues relating to safety or disclosure to leadership or subject matter experts for appropriate resolution where necessary.
- Support Ops Lead/Manager to implement remedial actions for post-incident reviews of requests that emanate from within the region's geographical area of responsibility.
- Be prepared to backfill for the Ops Manager/Lead on operational escalations, where required.
- Be flexible and prepared to cover weekend shifts and public holidays as necessary
What You'll Need
- Experience handling law enforcement requests and public health requests
- Identify trends and communicate such to the Public Safety leadership team.
- A degree of legal, data analytics or investigatory experience is a plus.
- Confidence interacting with law enforcement and/or other government officials in a calm, professional manner in a frequently high-pressure and rapidly evolving environment.
- Legal or investigative experience is a plus.
- Able to work independently with sound judgment.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and conversational English. Portuguese is a plus.
