About the Role
As part of Uber's Magical Experiences company wide OKR, Defect Reduction is a big priority for the company. Defect Reduction Platform team focuses on reducing customer defects as an end goal to improve the quality of Uber platforms/products and reduce/remove the customer friction. To reduce customer defects at scale, team develops the possible tools to group the defects, calculate the headroom analysis, identify anomalies, work with teams across Uber in diagnosing the trips with impact, root causing the problems, prioritization of the identified issues, calculating the impact of changes and celebrating the impact created. Much of our work is finding patterns in the customer defects and trip attributes/ activities data to identify trip cohorts, defect types and then root cause them to get the resolution. We will build the tooling so it can be done at scale and for all the teams at Uber to do this themselves.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
- Candidate will work on diagnosing the trips to find root causes, identify the headroom analysis from resolving each root cause, work with the engineering teams to get prioritization
- Candidate will work on building tooling for anything that can be automated for defect reduction, including but not limited to identfying anomalies in defects, identifying defect concentration areas, building dashboards for everyones to use
- Experience in Uber Data Platform various services (specifically, Spark, ML, uWorc, Querybuilder)
- Writing complex presto/hive/spark queries
- Knowledge of various engineering datasets from multiple Uber platforms

We are looking for someone that like to think outside the box, has perseverance to not give up until the customer issue root cause is identified, can build bridges across all of the Uber as necessary with the goal of helping the end customer. On the technology front, we are looking for someone with experience of working in any of the Uber core platform teams, has the skills to do data analysis (using uWorc, Query Builder, Spark and ML, Tableau) and Backend development/scripting to build the tools.
