About the Role

As a Public Policy Senior Associate, Driver and Courier Product Policy, you are Uber's connection between our market-leading technology used by millions of people daily and the unique and growing audience of policymakers, regulators, advocates, and third parties specifically focused on platform workers. You are a key thought leader translating Uber's product development needs into policy positions that drive innovation and support platform workers. Internally, you will serve as a project manager and subject matter expert for Local Policy and Communications teams on Product changes impacting workers around the world. You are a thought partner and adviser for Uber's Marketplace and Earner Product teams, Operations, Legal, and Marketing teams.

What You'll Do

  • Review Product roadmaps and specific proposals and provide advice and recommendations to Product, Operations, and Legal stakeholders.
  • Project manage soliciting feedback and input from Local Policy and Communications teams on specific product proposals and tracking progress towards goals.
  • Collaborate with the Work Policy team as they track legislative, regulatory and societal trends associated with platform work around the world that might inform Product strategy, development, and launches.
  • Keep Local Policy informed of Product plans and timelines to support on-going local Policy priorities.
  • Scope, design, support, and help implement cross-functional Go-To-Market strategies, playbooks, and templates for new product pilots and launches.
  • Work closely with cross-functional global teams to develop and communicate Uber's positions on work and product development in regulatory submissions, stakeholder meetings, and other external-facing convenings.
  • Occasionally represent Uber on work and product issues at public events and conferences.
  • Maintain relationships with external advocate groups, think tanks, academic organizations, and other industry peers that might inform Uber's policies and product features.
  • Translate and guide Uber's product development vision into the most durable, scalable narrative that will ensure customers, workers, and cities continue to benefit from Uber's technology innovations.
  • Find and close knowledge gaps as they emerge about how Uber's products and marketplaces work.
  • Propose and facilitate research on marketplaces that supports flexible work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, with 5+ years experience in public policy, advocacy, or government.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong political acumen and strategic thinker.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to develop smart, persuasive content and collateral.
  • Ability to distill and translate complex, technical materials into plain english.
  • A deeply curious self-starter who is eager to improve internal comprehension to ensure smart decision making.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and coalition-building skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Comfortable adjusting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience working in a corporate setting, especially tech, and in regulated industries.
  • Strong business acumen and familiarity with economics and basic statistical analysis.
  • Creative and solutions-oriented, particularly solutions that can scale.
  • Deep empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable developing a point of view and advocating for it, but open to competing viewpoints and new information.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and executives on high-impact projects and balancing multiple business and/or policy priorities.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,500 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,500 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,500 per year.
