The Autonomous Mobility & Delivery (AM&D) team is pioneering Uber's autonomous future in Rides and Eats. As we advance toward a world of autonomous and human-driven vehicles coexisting, Uber is building a hybrid marketplace that integrates autonomous vehicles seamlessly into mobility and delivery, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
Our work spans nearly every Uber service. Over the past year, we've partnered with leading Autonomous Vehicle OEMs, successfully integrating autonomous vehicles into Mobility and Delivery. Looking forward, we anticipate substantial growth and seek an Sr Engineering Manager to help drive this journey. This leader will build and lead a team developing an autonomous platform to streamline the integration across autonomous OEMs, enhance hybrid marketplace simulation capabilities, and improve the data pipelines and metrics reporting throughout the program.

What You Will Do
- Lead and scale the AM&D platform initiative, which spans across the API gateway platform, Simulation Platform, and Data pipeline and reporting charters.
- Leading and scaling multiple engineering teams. Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and performance management to team leads, fostering a high-performing and innovative engineering culture.
- Drive the design, development, and deployment of critical platform components, focusing on reliability, extensibility, and seamless integration across multiple product surfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-company and cross-functional teams to ensure platform alignment with broader business goals.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years experience of management in building and leading software engineering teams, including growing and mentoring engineering managers and engineers at different levels
- Strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem solving acuity for sophisticated technical challenges
- Proven track record of leading and scaling high-impact product platform initiatives. Strong technical expertise with deep knowledge of platform architecture, microservices, and best practices for building resilient, scalable systems
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional partners to drive business outcomes through a platform approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of proven experience in software engineering
- Experience in building API platforms, data platforms, simulation or other foundational product platforms that serve multiple product teams
- Familiarity with Autonomous or Mobility or Delivery Systems, and understand challenges unique to the autonomous or mobility or delivery industries
- Passionate about shaping the future of autonomous delivery and driving innovation in the industry
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$252,000 per year - USD$280,000 per year.
