Join Uber's Marketplace team as a Backend Software Engineer II and drive innovation across a wide range of services that are core to our Marketplace. Our teams are instrumental in enhancing Uber's marketplace logistics, maps, experimentation frameworks, membership, autonomous mobility & delivery services, location, routing, and earner incentives.
You will contribute to the development of systems that optimize real-time marketplace dynamics to provide seamless experiences for millions of users globally. Your role will involve working at the intersection of technology and data, using these to solve complex challenges in mobility and delivery.

We are hiring for multiple teams across the Marketplace organization for Mobility and Delivery. As a Backend Engineer, you will drive the implementation of a variety of products and systematic improvements while working closely with cross-functional folks and other engineers. You'll work closely with product, operations, data science, and engineering teams throughout the company. You will make an impact in the real world using exciting and new technology.
Basic Qualifications
- Grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership.
- Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience with backend development
- Experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture.
- Experience in analyzing a feature in production using analytics and experiments
- Experience in collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team
- Thriving in ambiguity and having a go-getter attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale consumer facing applications or platforms.
- Familiarity with real-time systems and data pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do?
- Design, develop, and maintain backend software solutions with high scalability and reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and fellow engineers to define and implement innovative solutions for complex problems.
- Participate in end-to-end software development, from design and architecture to testing and deployment.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide feedback to enhance code quality and maintain high engineering standards.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
