About the role:

Contributes to the build and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber leveraging the support and guidance of others on the team.

About the Team:

Security Engineering team is on a mission to build "Uber Security Center" that empowers end users to improve Uber's Security posture. The Uber Security Center is a single pane of glass that manages the Security of Uber infrastructure, data, and workforce with intuitive workflow and advanced analytics. The candidate will work closely with Product Managers, UX Researchers, Designers, Data Scientists, and other SW Engineers to define, design and develop product features to improve user experience, business growth, user trust, and security. They will also be shipping web frameworks and SDK which are used by all Uber web apps as well as external partner apps.

What You'll Do:

As a Frontend Engineer on our team, you'll play a key role in our mission. We use a modern tech stack, including React, TypeScript, and GraphQL for our frontend, while our backend is built in Go. You will be responsible for:

  • Design and develop web frameworks and components that make it easier to follow secure best practices leading to an improved security posture of Uber infrastructure and services.
  • Design and develop web framework that is customizable and extensible to support multiple products( Platform Security - Secrets, KMS, Authn/Authz, CyberSecurity - User Risk Score, Data Security, Identity and Governance), and diverse use-cases.
  • Design and implement product features across web applications that have a direct impact on our user experiences, business growth, user trust and security.

    Support metrics for analytics, security and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams for integration into our platform
  • Champion best software engineering practices such as continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
  • Write quality code and documentation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience software development experience
  • Experience working on systems operating at large scale
  • We are looking for someone that likes to think outside the box, has the perseverance to not give up until the customer issue root cause is identified, can build bridges across all of the Uber as necessary with the goal of helping the end customer.
  • Attention to detail, particularly around software engineering fundamentals, testing methodologies, and quality
  • Experience with Node.js, Javascript / Typescript, Node.js, React/Preact, Web Components, HTML, CSS, and the eagerness to learn more
  • Expertise in open-source technologies, modern web standards, best practices, and the JavaScript ecosystem
  • Familiarity with principles of good user experience
