About the Role
The Earner Growth Incentives team is responsible for creating new incentives to help Uber grow Earner onto the Uber Platform. The team is responsible for incentives like Driver-to-Driver Referrals, Earnings Guarantees, and Do X Get Y.
As Uber is moving to different verticals and Geographies, Incentives play a crucial role in us increasing our supply. The Earner Growth Incentives team is directly responsible for it.
The team is full-stack and cross-functional. There will be significant, challenging problems in the Backend, Frontend, Data and ML engineering spaces, and the team will have embedded collaborators from Product Management, Design, and Data Science.
As part of the team, you will have direct responsibility for vital systems and processes. You will take ownership of key features and initiatives in crafting and building high-quality, scalable systems to make incentives reliable and efficient. Your work will directly impact the lives of Uber's partners (drivers, couriers, vehicles), riders, eaters and operations teams across the globe.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
- As a software engineer, you'll engage in product and engineering jam sessions conceptualising features and mapping them into a technical design. You will build software that will ship to millions of users, or thousands of fellow engineers growing multiple apps that directly impact the ease of our users' lives.
- Work on Uber's most complex applications by designing, implementing, and unit testing the backend application code.
- Help teams with defining an architecture that would scale and also encourage best practices.
- Create frameworks and abstractions that are reliable, reusable and avoid surprising outcomes.
- Go to person to get clarity of problem statements and also can breakdown into meaningful tasks.
- Promote and demonstrate problem-specific expertise and execution excellence in delivering results
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years experience coding with Go, Java, C++ or Python.
- 4+ years experience building, maintaining, and debugging production services/platforms.
- 4+ years experience implementing complex software architectures with multiple dependencies.
- Experience analyzing, monitoring, and troubleshooting large-scale, high-traffic distributed systems.
- Comfortable communicating with technical teams and leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience of shipping high-quality product features on schedule and with high velocity.
- Experience assisting engineers in solving production incidents, and providing guidance during postmortems.
