About the Role
As a Senior Web Engineer on the Geocore team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining a suite of Web tools used by thousands of Engineers, Product Ops, and other employees at Uber to visualize and configure Uber's geospatial platform. Uber is a business that is powered by moving people, food, groceries, etc from Point A to Point B. Our Geocore platform defines the physical boundaries where different products (eg. Uber X, Uber Eats) are allowed to operate in the world and what experiences our users see in the app. You will work with a variety of tools and technologies including Javascript, Node.js, React.js, Go, and Java to support the vast geospatial needs of Uber's product lines.

What the Candidate Will Do
- You will be designing and implementing an enhanced UI for our geospatial platform technologies, You will be providing ops the tooling to control the Uber marketplace.
- You will build web tooling to facilitate incident management capabilities for Ubers critical services.
- You will design reusable UI components to be reused across a handful of various tools and services.
- You will develop capabilities to visualize real time geospatial events as they happen in real time.
- You will guide the team on web practices to modernize our web stack.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in multiple programming languages, e.g. Javascript, Node.js, React.js, Go, Java, etc
- Excellent coding skills with a high bar for quality and scalability
- Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements and draft detailed design documents.
- BS degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. Masters/Ph.D. preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
- Experience with Software Engineering Best Practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience of shipping high-quality product features on schedule
- Experience implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies
- Experience of cutting edge web technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, TypeScript), Application Servers, Web Applications
- Experience in Javascript and experience developing UI with JavaScript development frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, Vue, Bootstrap, etc)
- Experience with Node.js, React-Query, GraphQL, or other server-side Javascript technologies and tools
- Familiarity with principles of good user experience
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
