About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Machine Learnign Engineer to join the Trusted Identity engineering team at Uber.

The Trusted Identity org plays a crucial role in our mission to thoroughly verify the identity of our customers (riders, eaters) and partners (drivers, restaurants) while ensuring powerful, intuitive and streamlined user experiences. Our continued obsession for innovation in the space is essential to ensure safety as people interact on Uber's platform. The Account Integrity team in this org prevents fake identities from operating on the platform, and ensures that accounts are not duplicated nor fraudulent to enhance accountability

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
  1. Develop production machine learning solutions to ensure the integrity of every Uber account
  2. Partner with engineering and product leaders to help shape the roadmap
  3. Leverage digital information, behavior signals and social networking signals to establish trust in users.
  4. Build large scale systems to find similarities and relationships between various entities such as users, devices, images etc.
  5. Integrate with business systems dealing with risk, safety, and compliance.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
  1. 5+ years of industry experience developing machine learning models ( both classical and deep learning) and shipping ML solutions to production.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  3. Strong problem-solving skills, with expertise in ML methodologies
  4. Experience in applying ML, statistics, or optimization techniques to solve large-scale real-world problems
  5. Industry experience in ML frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, Pytorch, or JAX) and complex data pipelines; programming languages such as Python, Spark SQL, Presto, Go, Java

---- Preferred Qualifications ----
  1. PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  2. Familiarity with multi-task learning, LLMs and anomaly detection
  3. Fraud domain knowledge

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.
