About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on Uber's Bot Defense team, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the technical vision to strengthen Uber's ability to protect its services and infrastructure from bot attacks. In this role, you will design and implement complex systems, develop cutting-edge solutions, and apply ML/AI technologies to detect and mitigate automated threats at scale. You will act as a technical leader within the team, promoting quality and operational excellence while ensuring the robustness, scalability, and reliability of our services.

- Design and implement scalable, high-performance systems to detect and mitigate automated threats targeting Uber's services, ensuring robustness and reliability in production environments.
- Develop distributed, real-time algorithms for bot detection, leveraging technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
- Utilize ML/AI technologies to enhance the precision and recall of detection systems.
- Deliver and review technical design, code, and documentation, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to security best practices.
- Manage upstream and downstream dependencies, collaborating with other engineering teams across Uber to ensure seamless integration and alignment with broader technical initiatives.
- Mentor and support fellow team members, providing technical guidance and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
- 5+ years full-time work experience in software engineering, product development and/or security engineering.
- Proficiency in Go, Java, C++, or Python.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce comprehensive and detailed technical documentation.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and best practices.
- Experience with ML/AI technologies and frameworks and incorporating them into production systems.
