About the role:
The role of a Senior Software Engineer within the Security Response and Investigations (SRI) team at Uber is pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of our digital and physical environments. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing modern and scalable automation platform solutions aimed at enhancing our security response capabilities. This involves leveraging advanced technologies such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

About the Team:
Security Response and Investigations (SRI) team is part of CyberDefence org and is responsible for responding to security incidents and mitigating security threats across the company. The security landscape is constantly evolving, and with the adoption of ML/GenAI backed by extensive heterogeneous data, security threats are inevitably broadened. We build scalable, reliable & innovative solutions powered by cutting edge technologies to respond to these security threats and mitigate risk for Uber at scale.
Minimum qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Programming language (e.g. Java, Go, C++, Python)
- Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
Bonus Qualifications
- Strong experience in designing, building and maintaining backend services for large-scale distributed systems
Technical skills
Preferred:
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts, LLM & Prompt Engineering
- Knowledge of emerging security technologies, forensic methodologies and security tools.
- Certifications in CyberSecurity is a plus.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.
