About the Role
The UberEats Feed is the front door to our platform. It serves a vital role helping users find relevant merchants, discover new use cases and explore our selection. For merchants, it is the main surface on which they get showcased to potential customers.
The Feed Science team's work is diverse. It includes algorithm design, product analytics and statistical modeling that generate insights to inform strategy. Example projects include design and building the algorithms that improve the Feed's personalization power, and building econometric models that help us understand the long term implications of our investments.
What you will do
- Use data to solve ambiguous, meaningful customer and business problems.
- Deliver insights to understand customer behavior, our systems, to inform product strategy. Present these in various leadership forums.
- Develop and implement new algorithms for Feed personalization.
- Understand, research the latest trends in personalization. Make pragmatic decisions on what technologies and methods to incorporate into our systems.
- Build data foundations and dashboards that monitor system health and product metrics.
- Work with a cross-functional team that includes PM, Eng, Ops, Design, to develop strategy, roadmaps for the area.
- Mentor, coach, inspire and grow a team of Scientists. Support them to do their best work and bring their authentic selves to work. Provide guidance and support to advance their careers.

Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with 4 years of people management experience.
- Experience in building and managing high performance science teams - including mentoring and coaching senior ICs and people managers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of mathematical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, and analytics, in the domain of recommendation systems.
- Experience with experimental design, exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, testing, and model development.
- Proficient in both a data ETL language (e.g. SQL) and a scripting language like Python or R for data analysis.
- Track record in prioritizing and driving multiple work-streams forward simultaneously
- Ability to empower a team while providing them with career paths that align with business goals.
- Proven track record of collaborating with and influencing stakeholders.
- Principled yet pragmatic, having conviction and being authentic in your approach, but situationally aware enough to adapt when needed.
- Exhibit sound business judgment, long term and deep analytical thinking. Adept at influencing various stakeholders.
- Excellent storyteller with the ability to translate deep technical subjects into understandable narratives for non-technical audiences.
- Able to build a clear technical vision of the system that balances customer empathy, business needs and practical considerations.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$239,000 per year - USD$265,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$239,000 per year - USD$265,500 per year.
