The Product Legal team is a group of experienced and dedicated legal professionals who provide centralized ownership of support for all product-related work at Uber. The Product Legal team takes on novel challenges, offering strategic counsel to Product, Engineering, and Operations teams as new features, entire lines of business, and critical partner and merchant integrations are introduced across Uber's global platform.

About The Role:

We are hiring exciting roles on our growing Product Legal team, which supports a diverse range of business units, which may cover Uber Eats, Uber Ridesharing, autonomous vehicles, advanced technology development, and a wide range of other teams and strategic initiatives.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join our team. This role will focus on building and optimizing legal review processes for AI/ML-driven products and initiatives, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks while supporting Uber's rapid innovation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in legal project management, an understanding of legal operations, and a passion for leveraging technology - including AI itself - to drive efficiency and innovation.

Roles will be based at Uber's Washington D.C., New York or San Francisco, CA office.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with a highly collaborative team, taking the lead on project management processes, including working to scale existing processes for the review of new products. This role will primarily support the Mobility & Delivery Product Legal team, which focuses on Uber's mobility and delivery product launches.
  • Build and implement legal tools, playbooks, and policies tailored to AI/ML technologies, ensuring consistent and effective legal oversight for a given line of business.
  • Serve as a front-line reviewer, working under the supervision of an attorney, to evaluate and provide feedback to business stakeholders on AI/ML proposals, product launches, and operational proposals.
  • Develop and refine workflows for evaluating AI/ML-driven proposals, product launches, and operational initiatives, ensuring timely and thorough legal assessment.
  • Design and scale efficient processes for legal AI/ML reviews, streamlining approval workflows, managing stakeholder input, and advancing critical issues for resolution.
  • Identify gaps in current review and operational processes, particularly those involving AI/ML, and build scalable solutions to support an ever-growing product counsel team.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Product Legal team and cross-functional partners to drive alignment and streamline workflows for AI/ML-related projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in legal program management or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of legal matter management processes and systems.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AI/ML tools and methodologies, as well as familiarity with their associated legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations.
  • A passion for technology and innovation, with an eagerness to stay ahead of emerging trends in AI/ML and their implications for legal counsel and business operations.
  • Familiarity with Uber or expertise in the logistics and platform businesses that make up our Go Anywhere-Get Anything portfolio, from Delivery to Autonomous Vehicles, and from Mobility to Membership.
  • Be a strong communicator. You know how to communicate clearly whether speaking or writing.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in an exciting, fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative and pragmatic ways to facilitate clear and open communication at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and cross-functional partners, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
  • Self-motivation with a strong affinity for vision setting, strategic problem solving, and driving action. Works independently, but in close coordination with attorneys.
  • Inquisitiveness, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
  • B.A./B.S. preferred.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,000 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year - USD$137,000 per year.
