The mission of Uber's Global Security Team is to protect our people, places, platforms, and communities, with a major focus on our most meaningful asset - our people. The team supports this mission by using a data-driven and risk-based approach to support Security operations, and design processes to keep Uber safe.
As the Security Manager, ANZ & North Asia, you will be responsible for the security of Uber's people, properties, and assets throughout the region. You will work multi-functionally with local business partners, and the Director of Global Security for APAC, to execute globally focused projects and be responsible for the development and execution of all security processes and programs in your region.

The Impact You'll Have
Uber's Security Manager will be accountable for executing the Global Security strategy and programs across all Uber businesses within their respective area of operations (AOR).
- Coordinate security operations for all locations and staff in cities in ANZ, North and South East Asia.
- Coordinate response and incident management to address threats towards Uber's people, places, and operations
- Educate key stakeholders on security principles and implementation
- Implement the physical security strategy in your region in alignment with business goals
- Implement processes and metrics - use data to make decisions
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication across all regional business operations
- Develop positive relationships with local law enforcement agencies as well as private sector peers
- Develop security awareness and education programs and materials
- Management, selection, and oversight of security vendors
Specific responsibilities and accountabilities (not all-inclusive, performed within delegated authority):
- Be the subject matter expert on macro-level security issues and trends taking place across the respective AOR
- React promptly to any urgent security event/incident/crisis that takes place in the AOR, manage, and lead the effort and response until successful resolution
- Lead a key role as part of Global Security, collaborate to develop enterprise-wide policies/ programs, and create internal operating procedures
- Provide leadership of the regional security team, consisting of FTE and/or EXT staff, and ensure the effective management of all security activity and resources to support programs and operations in the respective AOR
- Provide quarterly operational reviews to Global Security Leadership
- Contribute to managing the regional security budget
- Create a yearly regional security strategy plan, based on Global Security strategy
- Work in close collaboration with internal Trust & Security, Ethics & Compliance and Political Law counterparts to align security activities with wider (global) programs
- Identify and manage security (guarding) vendors, to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency of services in alignment with Global Security standards
- Oversee and prepare accurate and timely reporting that enables informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of security activities, providing technical analysis, data and metrics, interpretation, and information as required to support the assessment of activity impact
The Experience You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree, military or law enforcement experience, plus 8+ years of direct experience in a security management role, applying your technical or analytical skills and leading teams
- Recent hands-on experience throughout ANZ, North or South East Asia is mandatory
- Excellent communicator; must be articulate and persuasive with the ability and attention to detail in written and oral communications at all levels both internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to work with large data and experience identifying and driving process and system improvement opportunities by monitoring metrics, analyzing data, and partnering with internal teams
- Crisis Management experience
- Experience managing contract security services
- Working knowledge of local laws and regulations that govern security, criminal, and regulatory matters, as well as an established professional network of security contacts within the region
- Comfortable with ambiguity, and an ability to manage security challenges in a constantly changing fast paced environment
- Capable of fostering a culture of Trust, Honesty and Integrity
- Travel required as needed to get things done
- Creative 'can do' attitude towards problem solving
- Able to scale with the business and thrive in a rapid growth environment
- Project management and reporting skills
