About the Role
The Uber Ads & Offers team builds consumer products that connect our eaters and riders to relevant businesses in engaging and delightful ways. We also build tools to help merchants, large and small, generate demand via Ads and Offers to grow their businesses.
Ads is one of the fastest growing lines of businesses at Uber. Every day thousands of advertisers use our Advertising platform to reach users on the Uber platform to help grow their businesses. The Science team on Ads Delivery designs and builds the core algorithmic components of the Ads Delivery system.
What You'll Do
- Build statistical, optimization, and machine learning models for a range of applications in the Ads Delivery space (e.g. auction, bidding, pacing, ranking).
- Design and execute product experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions.
- Use data to understand product performance and to identify improvement opportunities.
- Present findings to leadership to inform business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across disciplines such as product, engineering, and marketing to drive system development end-to-end from ideation to productionization.

Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelors degree in Economics, Operations Research, Statistics or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. or Bachelors degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent required)
- Strong Python or R foundation and expertise.
- Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, optimization, economics, and analytics.
- Knowledge of experimental design and analysis.
- Analytical rigor in approaching product problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years of industry experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent.
- Experience building Ads Delivery systems.
- Strong in product sense.
- Can use data and insights to driven decisions, help team shape the product vision and roadmap.
- Have the potential to frame ambitious, open product, can simplify complicated problems.
For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$136,000 per year - CAD$151,000 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
