Uber's Safety Operations Team is dedicated to reducing incidents, inspiring trust, and improving safety for all of our users across our global operations. You'll work with operations, product, community operations, data science, legal and other teams to ensure Uber is a safe platform. Safety is at the core of the Uber experience, and you'll be a key contributor to the team's global efforts and successes in the Japan Market / APAC region.

Reporting to the Head of Safety (Japan), the Safety Operations Manager will manage platform safety programs, processes, and policies across the Japan market for both Delivery and Mobility businesses. The candidate will be someone who relishes the prospect of getting into the weeds of the data to mine insights, enjoys solving complex operational problems, excels in fast-paced environments, and is motivated by delivering deep real-world impact and improving the safety of our users and community. The candidate proactively takes ownership of their program areas, and is skilled at generating actionable insights and leading challenging conversations with senior leadership across the Japan Mobility (Uber) and Delivery business (Uber Eats).
---- What You'll Do ----
- Take ownership of key Safety initiatives and projects in Japan / APAC to ensure that Uber is the platform of choice for safety.
- Manage the Japan Road Safety, Screening and Deactivations program for all platform users and support the Head of Safety in reporting and planning efforts
- Partner with Japan and APAC Safety PMs and Safety Product to launch solutions for all users in the Japan region.
- Manage, monitor, and analyze safety-related incidents and trends, investigating suspicious activity and behavior, identifying risks to Uber and its users, and proposing operational and product solutions
- Operationalise processes for early identification of trends and/or blocking issues in safety incidents.
- Set and develop best practice standards in the Japan region, and ensure their maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Recommend improvements to safety programs scoping, building, testing, and deployment across the Japan and APAC region.
- Build productive and successful relationships with Japan operations and cross-functional teams to push forward our Safety agenda
- Understand the business objectives and plans and advise on potential safety implications.
- Translate the impact of safety programs into business operations outputs and advocate for safety interventions and awareness in the region.
- Participate in Ops and Safety governance and other special projects/assignments as necessary.
---- What You'll Need ----
- Fluent Japanese and English language. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- 5+ years experience in a high-growth technology company or a multinational company with an established safety culture.
- Fluency in data driven analysis. Data-driven decision-making mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking and experimentation.

- The successful candidate is also one who has a record of accomplishment delivering success in high-performing business organizations, and one who has program management experience.
- Deep subject matter knowledge and practical expertise in a safety discipline will be an added advantage.
- Comfortable influencing discussions at the highest levels and a demonstrated ability to find common ground and align stakeholders with conflicting priorities

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity.
