About the Role

Quality and Reliability Production Management Engineer serves as the primary liaison between Platform Engineering and the broader Uber engineering community, advocating for quality and reliability standards throughout the product lifecycle. By championing quality-focused initiatives and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, the Production Management Engineer plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence and reliability within Uber's technology ecosystem.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and feedback on production quality and reliability challenges, and advocate for necessary improvements or enhancements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on quality and reliability practices, providing guidance and mentorship to development teams on best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions to educate internal stakeholders on quality and reliability standards, processes, and tools.
  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and work with engineering teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Participate in incident reviews, post-mortems, and root cause analysis sessions, and collaborate with teams to develop and implement remediation plans to prevent recurrence of production incidents.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem solving skills, with relevant experience in big data analysis and data pipeline infrastructure.
  • Proficient in one or more tooling development languages, like Python, SQL, Tableau with the ability to pick up new ones quickly.
  • 3+ years working in the SW development and user experience fields.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences effectively. They should be adept at building relationships and influencing stakeholders across different teams to drive quality and reliability initiatives forward.
  • Technical Proficiency: Candidates should have a strong technical background, with experience in software development, production engineering, or a related field. They should be proficient in technologies commonly used in production environments and be able to understand and analyze technical data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Quality Assurance or Reliability Engineering: Candidates should have hands-on experience in quality assurance or reliability engineering roles, with a track record of implementing and improving quality and reliability practices in complex, high-availability systems. Experience with tools and methodologies for monitoring, testing, and analyzing production systems is highly desirable.
