About the Role

We are hiring a Product Designer II - Visual Design for our Design System team.

The Expression Charter is the tastemaker team within Uber's Design System, responsible for crafting and evolving scalable visual assets like illustration, motion, and icon libraries. As a Visual Designer, you'll collaborate with a talented group of motion designers, illustrators, brand, and system designers to shape Uber's design language and ensure consistency and innovation across our app. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, experiment with cutting-edge styles and technologies, and help set the tone for Uber's global visual storytelling.

  1. Collaborate with motion designers, illustrators, and brand/system designers to evolve Uber's expression libraries.
  2. Design and craft scalable visual assets, setting a high bar for quality and consistency across the app.
  3. Experiment with new styles, techniques, and mediums (including motion and 3D) to push Uber's visual language forward.
  4. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on visual direction and execution.
  5. Contribute to defining Uber's design identity, acting as a tastemaker and raising the bar for visual excellence.

Basic Qualifications
  1. 3+ years of professional experience in graphic design with a focus on branding or systems design.
  2. Proficiency in creating high-quality visual assets, with a strong eye for typography, layout, and color.
  3. Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Strong illustration skills with a demonstrated ability to create cohesive and scalable artwork.
  2. Experience in motion design or 3D design is a bonus.
  3. Familiarity with building and evolving component-based design systems.
  4. An ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment and a passion for innovation in design.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$146,000 per year - USD$162,000 per year.
