About the Role

The Safety team's goal is to make Uber the safest and most trusted transportation choice, and to support our users with empathy and care when things go wrong.

This role requires a broad range of design skills - but we will also help you hone your craft and develop new capabilities. Uber is looking to set the global standard for ridesharing safety, and you can help drive that future!

--- What the Candidate Will Do ----

  1. Thoughtfully solve problems for our users and for our business
  2. Work closely with research, product, and engineering partners to deeply understand issues around safety, define design requirements, and identify future opportunities
  3. Design artifacts that provide the right level of detail at each stage of the product development process - from presentations that communicate design strategy to pixel-perfect prototypes for engineers
  4. Regularly participate in design critiques with Uber's world-class design team and ship high quality end-to-end experiences
  5. Ultimately, your work will help to prevent harm and impact millions of people every day around the world!

---- Basic Qualifications ----

4+ years experience in UX, Product Design, or a related field

---- Preferred Qualifications ----
  1. Demonstrated passion for creating safer, more inclusive spaces and experiences
  2. Humility, willingness to ask for help, and an eagerness to learn and grow
  3. Thoughtful problem solving; ambition to deeply understand the opportunity space and user needs
  4. Emotional intelligence; ability to think beyond the digital screen and design for human emotions and interactions in the physical world
  5. Quick visual communication, including sketches, wireframes, and flow diagrams
  6. Ability to conduct evaluative research, including usability tests, heuristic reviews, and competitive analysis
  7. Experience using existing design systems to deliver usable and elegant solutions
  8. Proficient in Figma (or similar) for higher-fidelity design iteration, prototyping
  9. Proficient in Principle (or similar) for animation, micro-interactions
  10. Proficient in Google apps (Slides, Sheets, Docs, or similar) for documentation, collaboration
  11. Knack for creating fun and building connections with teammates; ability to nurture positive relationships even through difficult projects and subject matter
