About the Role
As the Procurement and Merchant Onboarding Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping our procurement and onboarding processes, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making. You will lead procurement efforts to secure the best suppliers, products, and services that elevate the merchant onboarding experience, ensuring cost-effective solutions without sacrificing quality. This role operates in a fast-moving environment, where you'll need to quickly adapt and respond to changing business needs.
Along with managing procurement, you will enhance the end-to-end onboarding process, driving efficiency and operational improvements in a dynamic setting. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Sales and Product teams, while negotiating contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms. Managing a small team of contractors (3-4 people), you'll be responsible for ensuring that procurement and onboarding operations are smooth, scalable, and data-informed.
Your Impact in Role:
- Lead Data-Driven Procurement: Use analytics to create procurement strategies, selecting top suppliers, negotiating contracts, and securing cost-efficient deals without compromising on quality.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of products and services. Optimize service quality in a dynamic business setting.
- Optimize and Scale Supply Chain: Ensure a stable and scalable supply chain by managing current supplies, forecasting future needs, and preparing procurement strategies accordingly.
- Enhance Onboarding Processes: Develop and refine the merchant onboarding process using data insights to ensure the program evolves with business demands and delivers a seamless experience for merchants.
- Drive Operational Efficiency: Conduct root-cause analysis to identify and improve key metrics related to supplier performance, demand forecasting, and operational inefficiencies. Use data to drive continuous improvements in both procurement and onboarding operations.
The Experience You'll Bring:
- Experience: At least 5 years in procurement, supply chain, operations, logistics, or a related field.
- Data-Driven Mindset: Proven ability to use data and analytics to inform procurement and operational strategies, assess performance, and make sound business decisions.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in Japanese (native or business level) and English (business level), with strong communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, and SQL.

- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on operational and financial performance.
- Independence: Proven ability to operate independently, demonstrate creativity, pay attention to detail, and deliver large-scale results.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Salesforce
