About the Role
We are seeking an outstanding individual to join the Autonomous Mobility & Delivery (AM&D) team as Middle East Operations Lead. This role will help build Uber's Autonomous future in the Middle East with AV partners - including managing the overall launch process, daily monitoring, and growth in the region. You will effectively prioritize and adapt actions based on results and evolving AV trends. This is an Individual Contributor position but may build a small team over time as operations scale.
This role will involve program planning, execution, and accountability to results - with a heavy dose of cross functional collaboration both internally and externally. You will also serve as the clear primary day-to-day touchpoint for the AV Tech provider and work closely to ensure seamless collaboration across Uber Ops, Fleets, Business Development, Tech, Marketing, Policy, Legal etc - both globally and locally in the region.

As we partner with Autonomous Tech developers, fleet operators, and cities to bring about AV services, you'll be thinking about how to achieve success with early pilots and writing the playbook for future expansions. You'll have big-picture awareness, ensuring proper focus is on safety, privacy, equity, and environmental considerations alongside business fundamentals so that our efforts are welcomed equally by communities and customers.
What You'll Do
- Lead AV launch, deployment, and ongoing operations in your region - with cross-functional partners
- Collaborate with many different skilled individuals across Uber, including fleet operations, engineering, product management, legal, policy, safety, marketing, and regional operations teams
- Work with local policy and ops teams to collaborate externally with relevant stakeholders to deploy and grow our Autonomous operations and partnerships
- Own program execution, ensuring delivery against strategy on a global scale
- Use data to surface insights, develop and track metrics
- Anticipate problems and craft inventive, efficient solutions to a variety of challenges
- Pressure test assumptions and accurately assess program risks
- Work closely with other teams and third parties to experiment and ensure alignment that we are delivering on our goals
- Contribute to the evolving strategy by identifying areas where our customer experience or internal operations could improve
- Develop positive relationships with cross-functional leaders to drive long-term growth and market expansion
- Thrive in an environment of responsibility and independence, making smart judgements in spite of ambiguity and defending them to leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 6+ years of experience with a proven track record of data analytics and operations management
Preferred Qualifications
- AV knowledge is strongly preferred. An understanding of robotics and autonomous driving technology and the industry players.
- SQL experience. Ability to build queries and generate insights, not just data.
- Marketplace and operations experience to understand the complex dynamics of a launch
- Commercially-minded and able to steer on the complexities of launch across functions - regs, legal, marketing etc
- Stakeholder Management and experience partnering with cross-functional teams and external customers.
- A continuous improvement approach, with a history of quick adaptation and self-directed learning
- Experience in planning, setting metrics, developing roadmaps, and designing processes without a template
- A passion for creating empathetic, inspiring, and innovative transportation solutions in pursuit of positive societal outcomes
