About the Role

Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. The Internal Audit Specialist:

  • Performs advanced-level internal auditing work and executes Internal Audit projects.
  • Maintains all organizational and professional ethical standards, and ensures Internal Audit activities are carried out in compliance with The IIA's International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Works fairly autonomously and can flex to new areas or topics with supervision.

Specific essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates very effective leadership in various areas of results, self and people leadership
  • Ensures operational excellence and delivers work on time and at optimal quality; this includes:
  • Performance of audit procedures, and the use of adequate methodology, tools, and techniques.
  • Effective identification, development, and documentation of audit issues, identification of root cause and negotiation of effective solutions.
  • Effective and timely stakeholder relationship building and communication throughout all stages of the audit from planning to reporting to peers, stakeholders and IA management.
  • On-going self quality control over the work performed (project documentation and deliverables).
  • Develops and maintains productive stakeholder, team-oriented management and staff relationships.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and shares information gained with co-workers
  • Performs related work as assigned by the Director/Senior Manager of Internal Audit

What the Candidate Will Do

Execution of Internal Audit Projects: Plan and perform advanced internal audit procedures, including identifying, documenting, and resolving audit issues, using robust methodologies and tools while adhering to professional standards and ethical practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships with management and senior leadership across Uber's Lines of Business, ensuring clear communication at all audit stages from planning to reporting.

Data-Driven Auditing: Leverage data analytics and science tools like SQL, Tableau, et to enhance audit insights, conduct exploratory analyses, and identify opportunities for automation and innovation.

Leadership and Quality Control: Lead project teams to deliver high-quality, timely outputs with minimal disruption, ensuring thorough quality control over audit documentation and deliverables.

Continuous Improvement and Professional Development: Stay updated with industry best practices, pursue professional development opportunities, and proactively seek innovative approaches to audit processes to improve organizational risk management and governance.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, engineering, technical internal audits, compliance or risk management related roles.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, management information systems or related field.
  • Problem solving skills that demonstrate critical thinking and "outside-the-box" approach to reach a solution.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management practices (e.g. leading teams), and managing projects through the audit lifecycle.
  • Communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation experience that allow interactions with business partners.
  • Leads a project team to deliver strong output, both in quality and quantity. Instills a strong, balanced work ethic, while being attentive to the needs, and leads the team to produce high quality work on time, in scope, with minimal to no disruption to the projected schedule.
  • Experience working as part of a global, cross-functional team and working with all levels.
  • Experience in operating independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects/initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of SQL is required and experience of other languages, Go, Java, R, Python is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIA/CISA/CISSP/CPA/Project Management certification
  • Understanding of Uber's products and operations
  • Industry experience within Technology, E-Commerce, Rideshare,Food Delivery, Retail, Financial (Payments) a plus
  • Experience with the use of various Data analytics and Data Science tools such as Tableau, Celonis or others is highly preferred.
  • Experience in using Data science and data analytics when conducting audit projects (possible use include exploratory, descriptive/visualization, predictive or causal purposes) and areas of automation innovation is highly preferred.
