About the Role

Uber is seeking an Indirect Tax analyst to join our Latin America team in Mexico City. This role is focused on Brazilian taxes, from technical advisory to compliance, to processes transformation and automation.

In this role, you will actively engage with other team members and support the LatAm tax leadership fostering innovation in the Tax department.

You must have a grasp of tax accounting and compliance concepts and an awareness of international issues facing a fast-growing multinational. You will be working within the tax team and helping to shape the internal tax processes as well as supporting new products. In your role, you will work with highly motivated, exceptionally skilled, multi-cultural team members.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Responsible for overseeing indirect tax filings for Brazil, prepared by the tax center of excellence in India
  • Work cross functionally to implement law changes (e.g. the indirect tax reform)
  • Ensure indirect tax filings are compliant with laws and regulations in multiple countries
  • Analyze and review data to prepare filings and identify risks, opportunities, and optimizations
  • Support the team with data reconciliation, simplification, and understandability across different data sources to comply with tax authorities requests
  • Collaborate closely with different (indirect tax) reporting, accounting, and tax technical teams to provide expert advice on indirect tax reporting matters
  • Continuous focus on the development of Uber's business, Uber's products and Uber's systems
  • Continuous focus on how to use technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in indirect regulations and guidelines in Brazil

Basic Qualifications

  • Law or Accounting degree with tax specialization
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Brazilian indirect taxes (ISS, PIS, COFINS, IBS/CBS)
  • Experience with indirect tax technical principles and regulations in Brazil
  • Professional proficiency in Portuguese
  • Advanced proficiency in English and fluent Spanish
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and analyze tax technical data
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with introducing technology based solutions in the field of indirect tax reporting
