This is a hybrid role (50% in office), and you must be located in, or willing to relocate to Washington, D.C.
About the Role
As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you'll play a key role in managing and ensuring compliance with various indirect tax obligations including sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, and business licensing. You will support tax return preparation, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance accuracy and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to drive process improvements using technology and automation.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and file sales and use tax, property tax, and gross receipts tax returns accurately and on time.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external authorities regarding compliance matters.
- Respond to inquiries from state and local tax agencies and help resolve compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance procedures are up-to-date and aligned with evolving business needs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement automation solutions to enhance reporting accuracy.
- Perform and review monthly reconciliations of tax accounts, including payments and accruals.
- Analyze large volumes of compliance data, flag issues, and collaborate with relevant teams for resolution.
- Use tax technology tools to streamline calculations and reporting processes.
- Contribute to special projects and support ad-hoc requests from the indirect tax team.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in sales and use tax or indirect tax compliance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tax software and ERP systems such as Alteryx, Oracle, Vertex, SQL, or Tableau.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and a process-driven mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets and perform complex reconciliations.
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Self-starter with a sense of ownership and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Curious, analytical, and solutions-oriented thinker.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$96,500 per year - USD$107,250 per year.
