About the Role
The Uber Eats team is looking for a sharp, highly motivated merchandising leader to join our US & Canada Grocery and Retail Operations Team to partner with some of our most strategic partners to create best-in-class shopping experiences for our consumers. As the Grocery and Convenience Category Lead, you will work hand-in-hand with our merchant partners, our Enterprise Partner Managers, and our broader Operations organization to drive incremental revenue growth for merchants and categories through vertical, assortment and promotional planning and activation. You'll work cross-functionally with product, marketing, data science, operations and commercial teams to drive incremental revenue growth through leading vertical assortment and promotional planning to deliver maximum value for Uber and our merchant partners. You'll lead through ambiguity to deliver high impact initiatives that can improve customer experiences across the US & Canada while having ownership and autonomy over your work.

What you'll do
- Lead Strategic Category Initiatives: Develop and execute merchandising strategies with grocery and convenience partners to optimize product assortment, enhance category performance, and drive sales growth across the US and Canada.
- Create Tailored Category and Merchant Growth Roadmaps: Create business plans with merchants that enhance their offering and drive channel share by applying promotional strategies that drive customer conversion and retention. Evaluate SKU productivity to drive SKU-featured and promotional strategy and consistently experiment with new products, assortments, or departments to drive customer LTV.
- Consumer Experience Enhancement: Innovate the consumer experience by exploring personalized and targeted merchandising tactics, using testing and experimentation to validate new approaches and improve UX.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Merchant Partners, Marketing, Operations and Commercial teams to ensure high quality storefronts, high impact campaigns, and a high degree of alignment across consumer touchpoints.
- Analyze Category Trends and Optimize GTM: Utilize sales data and market insights to identify opportunities to continually refine merchandising strategies and campaign designs, optimizing engagement, conversion rates, and ROI. Measure and report on performance against key metrics with clear insights and recommendations.
- Drive Promotional Campaigns: Collaborate with internal teams to design compelling promotional campaigns that align with merchandising objectives and increase channel share.
- Team leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing vertical merchandising team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of merchandising experience, with a focus on grocery/CPG (or grocery marketplaces)
- Experience specifically as a merchandising/category leader or e-commerce merchandiser.
- Previous experience in facilitating and managing strategic planning with retailers/CPG brands
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making, optimize merchandising strategies and drive conversion.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills with a proven track record of successfully handling complex partnerships, both internally and externally
- Bachelor's degree
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Clear, confident, and compelling communication - excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences. You know how to take ownership and lead a conversation with an Engineer, Product Manager, or C-Level Executive when needed.
- Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment - you understand what drives short and long term value within the merchandising funnel and can make tradeoff decisions to reflect this
- You have experience driving assortment planning, strategic planning sessions, sourcing products and analyzing SKU-level performance against category performance or even channel management. You understand the merchandising space because you lived it.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis, driving actionable insights, modeling, and sophisticated test plan design and analysis
This role is open to fully remote candidates based in the US.
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$186,000 per year.
For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.
